A Legacy of Giving

The Kiwanis Club of Hideaway–Lindale celebrated its Day of Giving on September 9th!

After a year of dedicated fundraising, we proudly gave back $40,000 to our local community.

Sheffield Adult Scholarship

Empowering local adults to achieve their college dreams.

The Kiwanis Club of Hideaway–Lindale awards up to $1,000 per semester toward tuition for individuals who demonstrate financial need and a strong desire to pursue or continue a college degree.

Scholarship renewal is available each year for students meeting academic requirements.

Congressman Nathaniel Moran – Representing Texans in District 1

On August 12, the Kiwanis Club of Hideaway–Lindale was honored to host Congressman Nathaniel Moran, who shared insights into his work in Washington and his mission to represent all Texans in District 1 to the best of his ability.

He is pictured with Club President Don Gustovich and Lindale High School student Carson McKnight, who was recognized as Sophomore of the Year for the Kiwanis Texas–Oklahoma District. Congratulations, Carson!

Mayor Chet Thomas – Leading Without Implementing Additional City Taxes

On July 29, Hideaway Mayor Chet Thomas shared how the city is improving communication, boosting efficiency, cutting costs, and enhancing residents’ quality of life—all while avoiding city taxes.

Linda Fulmer – The Orphan Train

On October 22, Linda Fulmer shared her family’s connection to the historic Orphan Train movement of the early 1900s. Drawing from personal research, she revealed how these trains shaped countless lives—including her grandfather’s—and answered audience questions about this fascinating chapter of American history.

Brian South – Behind the Gates at Hideaway Security

On September 17, Brian South offered a behind-the-scenes look at Hideaway Security, where 23 officers patrol 24/7 and handle up to 13,000 calls each month. From armed officers to EMT-trained responders, he shared how the team keeps a community of 3,228 residents and 1,806 homes safe—especially during high-traffic event days.

Gerry Giles – Tracing Family Roots

On April 18, Gerry Giles, a member of both the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Republic of Texas, took us on a journey through his family’s history and its ties to American and Texas heritage. He also shared practical tips for researching your own ancestry through sites like Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org.
